Bristol 10K challenge in memory of Kane

bristol-10K

On 5th May 2019 a group more than 80 friends and family, including Brighton Williams receptionist Julie Waters, took part in the SIMPLYHEALTH GREAT BRISTOL 10K in memory of Kane Woodington.

Kane's story

Kane was diagnosed with Restricted Cardiomyopathy and Pulmonary Hypertension in 2017 and received a heart and lung transplant in January 2018. Kane made a remarkable recovery and was home within two and a half weeks. He returned to work, went back to college and enjoyed socialising with his friends again.

Sadly, Kane was taken ill and in December 2018 he lost the fight against his illness aged only 18.

An amazing total raised

Kane was a brave, positive and amazingly strong young man, and it was his wish to raise funds for Harefield Hospital, which is the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK. Kane wanted to help raise money for this special charity to say thank you to the amazing staff for the wonderful care he received there.

A great big thank you goes to all those who participated in the 10K and to all those who sponsored the participants. The total raised at publication is an amazing £13,500. The enthusiasm and commitment shown by so many taking part in this event is truly a fitting tribute to a remarkable young man.
